Community Health Services
Our Four Priority Funds
1. Professional Training and Recruitment
Since our inception, supporting our local ability to attract and retain medical professionals has been central to our success. Now, recruiting to specialized areas like orthopaedics, radiology, internal medicine, psychiatry or paediatrics is an ongoing challenge. Our need for specialized nursing care also continues to be a challenge.
Medical professionals are at a premium worldwide. In Lloydminster, we have to be proactive about recruiting and retaining the best. With donor support, we plan to address two key priorities:
1. Home Grown Scrubs– Right now, we know 6 local people are pursuing training in radiology, family medicine, physiotherapy, and speech pathology. We will create a fund which can entice professionals to return to Lloydminster to work and live. This assistance might include tuition support and living allowances for specialized doctors, nurses or care workers in return for commitments to serve in Lloydminster.
2. Training & Development - Advancements in equipment and medical treatment require our local healthcare providers to take courses to stay current. Our local professionals are well trained, and we want to ensure they arelearning and sharing the best practices so the highest quality of care continues.
Our Goal – to raise $1.5 million in
endowment funds over the next three
year for training and recruitment and
$250,000 per year for immediate needs. |

2. Long-term Care and Patient Comfort
Quality of care for patients in our hospitals and long-term homes today is a significant concern. People wait for care, have extended hospital stays, or spend their last days in our facilities. We can never forget that we must offer high quality care, and a comfortable and caring environment.
The demand for seniors’ care is increasing Each of the long-term homes requires ongoing upgrades and enhancements to ensure that they offer high level equipment which both improves the residents’ care and advances the working environment for care staff.
In addition, access to a TV, a warm blanket, a comfortable chair, or an updated waiting room will reduce the stress or concern associated with a visit to any of our facilities. It is often the smallest items that are remembered the most.
“Donations that help purchase equipment and comfort items for residents like my brothermake a difference to his life, and his friends’ lives, every day. The special little touches help create a soothing atmosphere, and he always enjoys the socials and recreational activities put on by the staff. Your gifts help people like my brother enjoy life to the fullest”.
Our Goal – to raise $300,000 per year for
patient comfort and long term care.

3. Area of Greatest Need
Our health is unpredictable. So too, new and emerging needs within our community can be equally unpredictable and offer significant opportunities for our Foundation to make a difference. Each year, we are confronted with emergent opportunities that can make our facilities and equipment higher quality and our health professionals stronger in their specific fields.
For example, over 1000 babies were born in Lloydminster this past year – a 39% increase over just 5 years ago. Funding needs emerge annually and we want to ensure that we can respond quickly to realize our vision of a healthy community. We must continue to grow our services to ensure that community members stay in ourarea, knowing they have access to a supportive and excellent healthcare environment.
Our Goal – to raise $500,000 per year to
ensure that we can respond to needs that
are the highest priority NOW! |

4. Technology & Innovation
Health programs in Lloydminster have grown over the years, often because of vision from the Foundation leadership and seed-money from donors. Local delivery of chemotherapy services, dialysis, CT Scans, MRI services, and cataract surgery are all examples of programs that began because of the support – and drive - of the community through the Foundation.
Each day, researchers and technology providers discover new ways to identify, treat and manage diseases and ailments. We live in a world where technology and innovation are not only
embraced but encouraged. Our residents should expect access to the very best care possible right here at home.
This year we have needs for new equipment in ICU, Diagnostic Imaging, and Emergency.
Our Goal – to raise $1,000,000 per year in
support of growth initiatives to be sure
that we can add the needed care for our
community.
