Dr.Cooke Extended Care Centre
Current Priority Project
Lifting and Moving Our Loved Ones - The Track Lifting Project at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre
The Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre is home to 105 residents right here in Lloydminster. As the Dr. Cooke is “home away from home” for many of our residents, they all require and deserve a safe, comfortable living space, with special, warm, home-like features.
A track-lifting system, installed on the ceiling of a resident’s room, assists those who require added mobility. It offers a very safe, comfortable, and accessible method for moving residents from one area to another.
The resident is assisted into the comfortable, breathable mesh sling, and the tracking allows the resident to be lifted to almost any area of their room (their bed, their washroom, their chair, etc)
This system provides immediate improvement to the quality of life of residents.

Long-term Care and Patient Comfort
Quality of care for patients in our hospitals and long-term homes today is a significant concern. People wait for care, have extended hospital stays, or spend their last days in our facilities. We can never forget that we must offer high quality care, and a comfortable and caring environment.
The demand for seniors’ care is increasing Each of the long-term homes requires ongoing upgrades and enhancements to ensure that they offer high level equipment which both improves the residents’ care and advances the working environment for care staff.
In addition, access to a TV, a warm blanket, a comfortable chair, or an updated waiting room will reduce the stress or concern associated with a visit to any of our facilities. It is often the smallest items that are remembered the most.
“Donations that help purchase equipment and comfort items for residents like my brothermake a difference to his life, and his friends’ lives, every day. The special little touches help create a soothing atmosphere, and he always enjoys the socials and recreational activities put on by the staff. Your gifts help people like my brother enjoy life to the fullest”.
Our Goal – to raise $300,000 per year for
patient comfort and long term care. |
