Planning a Major Gift

A planned gift usually involves considerable assets. It may be a cash gift or a gift-in-kind. For the majority of our donors, a planned gift may be the largest gift you will ever make, and therefore requires some planning on your part and on ours.

If you have attended an estate-planning seminar over the past couple of years, you might be very familiar with some of the more common planned giving terms. The phrase itself is becoming more and more common, yet its application is quite broad based.

We have listed some more common planned giving vehicles for you to consider. We would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have and encourage you to contact your own professional advisor to discuss the best options for you.

  • Gifts Made Through a Will

We are truly moved and humbled when a donor’s last wishes include Lloydminster Region Health Foundation, and we are committed to ensuring that we follow through with fulfilling their wishes.

Making a bequest can be quite simple. Firstly, decide how you want your gift to be used. Keep in mind that healthcare needs are ever evolving, so your gift could be used in many different areas. Secondly, get professional advice from your estate planner or financial advisor. Lastly, keep the Foundation informed. We would love to work with you in discovering the best usage of your bequest, and want to convey our sincerest appreciation.

  • Gifts of Life Insurance

The Foundation can be named the beneficiary of either a new life insurance policy or by transferring ownership of an existing policy to the Foundation. Premiums may be tax deductible.

  • Gifts of Personal Property and Real Estate

A gift of personal property like jewellery, antiques, furniture or art needs to be accompanied by a third-party appraisal of its current market value.

The Foundation gratefully accepts gifts of real estate according to specific criteria as outlined by the Board of Directors. If you are interested in making a gift of personal property or real estate, we encourage you to contact Georgina.

  • Gifts of Securities

A gift of securities is another way of making a contribution to Lloydminster Region Health Foundation. With tax benefits, as well as the benefit of making a difference to local healthcare, you can rest assured that your gift will help enhance healthcare for our community. If you are interested in making a gift of securities, we encourage you to contact your financial advisor and Georgina.
